truth in advertising

If I keep acting like I did today, I am going to be forced to dye my hair blond as a warning to others.

For instance, I asked a co-worker, “How are you doing this morning?”. She replied, “Good, don’t you remember our discussion about the radio station?”. Well, no, I apparently didn’t recall any of the earlier events of the day.

I certainly hope FMP doesn’t react to the new color of my hair like he did to the new length.

Summer

This week, we began the summer work schedule at the college. This means no late days for the duration. We work nine hours Monday-Thursday and then take Friday off. Each of the full-time workers takes a Friday/Saturday and works while everyone else is off. Then, the following week, the one who worked takes Thursday off as well. Thus, the books are balanced and everyone is happy. We love summer!

Hiho! Hiho! It’s back to work I go!

IRP’s PICC (permanent IV line) is scheduled to come out today and she is supposed to come home. That would be so lovely. We really miss her around her. Even the pets are pouting. Tomorrow will have been three weeks since the surgery and she is doing things by herself quite well. It will be good for her to come home to continue healing.

This glitch has caused IRP to back up her plans a bit, so we are shooting for Fall 2013 as her return to college. At this point, IRP feels that even studying math would be preferable to what she is doing. Considering our family’s general hatred of math, this is a large concession.

Since FMP will be available today for IRP, I am going back to work. The people there have been so kind and accommodating, but it is time to resume my tasks.

I Just Don’t Know What to Say (Unusual for Me)

While I was at home resting, a friend from work brought up balloons and a card for IRP.  She also left a card for me and FMP. Inside I found a gift card. My co-workers had taken up a collection to help us out!

I am so touched and humbled. I really can’t find words to thank them. I work for a community college. Many of the part-timers are students. I know they are struggling themselves. And, yet, they gave of their limited resources to aid us. I never cry, but I think I may have to now. I wish my grandmother were still here. She would cry with me and we would both feel better. I am sure, though, that she is up before the throne pointing out to God exactly what she thinks of IRP’s position.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I love you guys!
